No plastic cups or straws at LaCabana 12/1/17

La Cabana is making a difference:

    • Plastic straws has been banned from the beach bar, pool bar and restaurants as of December 1, 2017
    • Plastic straws will be replaced by paper straws and will be available “ONLY UPON REQUEST”
    • Plastic stirrers will be replaced by wooden stirrers for mixed drinks
    • Plastic cups will be replaced by biodegradable cups at the bars
    • Re-usable tumblers will be sold at the pool and beach bar. With every order of a cocktail or mix drink you will receive a $1.00 discount when using your tumbler.

That's basically what the Divi has done. Wooden stirrers would be great (they didn't do that) as sometimes the frozen drinks are so thick you need to stir them. We brought our own paper straws this year. They do not offer those either. I saw a lot more people with reusable tumblers. They sold them in the gift shop and Dunkin Donuts had some nice ones.

Moomba and Now Clubhuis are also using the paper straws. A good step forward.

Nice that they are giving $1 discount as well for using tumblers.

That's great! Do they allow you to use your own tumbler? I assume if you do there isn't a discount.

When we were on our horseback riding adventure, I couldn't believe the plastic that was washed up on the other side of the island. The guide told us that there had recently been a beach clean-up also. It's terrible.
Hopefully we'll be back in Spring 2018

When I was in Aruba less then 2 weeks ago it was very windy, the plastic cups and straws were flying everywhere at the Hyatt! I of course, feeling like the Hyatt is my second home, was running around picking up after everyone! They were even in the ocean I think this movement is great!
