One of my Favorite Things About Aruba

I just got an email from a couple that goes to Aruba the same time we go. We met them on the beach about 5 years ago, they shared our palapa. Since then we meet up with them every trip. I love that there are so many repeat visitors going the same time. They just emailed me when they'll be arriving. I said we'll meet you on the beach on Sunday, lol. We also see some of the same people either at the casino or the beach. Its so nice. They use to arrive our second week and leave the week after us but the last couple of years, they've been arriving the same time we do. It reminds me of that old movie (I know, I am dating myself) but does anyone remember that movie "Same Time, Next Year" with Ellen Burstyn & Alan Alda? Just one more thing I Love about Aruba.....

    yup
so many people, especially fixed week timeshare owners and/or visitors that visit the same time year after year !
certainly is a good way of meeting new folks and making friends

We met a group at happy hour a couple years ago in the spring, then on our trip last November we ran into them again. Of all the weeks and all the places, it was such a coincidence to run into them. They were lots of fun!
Not sure when, but we will be back

One of the benefits of having a fixed week timeshare is that you see the same folks every year. We have forged some good relationships and become very close to one couple from Chicago to the extent that we have visited each others homes.

There's the other side as well, the wife in one of the other couples just passed away a couple of months ago. You have sadness to share as well.

I agree this is one of my favorite things as well. We have met so many friends who are at the Divi AI while we are. We have dinner with one family from the Bronx each year and hang out doing other fun things as well. Last year I bought all 4 of them gifts. coffee mugs with pictures we have taken together and with each of themselves over the last 8 or so years. Each mug as different with pictures they would individually enjoy. Needless to say it was a big hit! This is a reason I never want to switch my week I would miss them too much

We've met quite a few people over the years. Some of my good friends are people that share our love for Aruba. We are all friends on Facebook and PM each other dates that we are there. In fact, I had a friend around the corner from us that backed out on a week that I was renting when we were there in August. I called one of my Aruba contacts and they are taking the week. Look forward to seeing them again.
