Opinions needed DePalm Is.

Just wondering if doing the 1/2 day of snorkling on DePalm Island is something a first time snorkling person should try or if you should just rent the stuff on the beach and try it there?

YES - definitely try it there - you go right off from the pier - you are right amongst the big beautiful blue fish. I had only snorkeled a few times and it was great.
Pay the extra 15.00 and do a full day - open bar and breafast, lunch and snorkeling equipment. We did the Sea Trek from there last year - very cool - a little expensive.
When are you going.

Do it. Our entire family goes, ranging in skills from certified Scuba to a 7 year old.It is nice and shallow, you won't have to work hard seeing fish and you will get everything you need supplied to you.

Wel.. you won't see many fish by the hotel area. Baby beach is very beautiful, very nice fish there. Perhaps De Palm Island is too much of a good thing to begin with, they have very big fish (friendly) fish there and that frightens some people (who never been snorkling before) the fish at baby beach are much smaller. You could also go with a catamaran tour, they stop at 3 different spots.

Must say that De Palm Island still is one of my favorits!

Re: Opinions needed DePalm Is.

last year my mom and I went 1/2 day. My mom had an asthma attact and went into full cardiac. Several other tourist on the island did CPR and saved her life, We laft early and spent the rest of the day at the Aruba hosiptal. This year we spent 8 hours on Depalm and my mom went right back in and had a great time. We figure we are going to be laying around on the beaches may as well do it all day with buffets and snorkle equipment and open bar for us. The have showers and chase lounges and the staff are very warm and inviteing. I could do several full days and not get enough. We saw a sea turtle this time. Thrilling Renda
