Passport for child

We are coming to Aruba in Aruba. We are taking our daughter 4 years old with us. She was born in United States. We are US Citizens. Does our daughter need a passport? If not what does she need?

Re: Passport for child

Hi - She needs a birth cirtificate with the emblem section raised. Copies are not valid.

That said, why don't you just get her a passport? It is a relitively easy thing to do. Do you know how much fun it will be for her to look at that passport in the years to come and reflect on her vacationing experiences?

Re: Passport for child

I agree with Charels, and will go on record again --- IT IS MUCH EASIER TO TRAVEL WITH A PASSPORT THEN THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND PHOTO ID.

Re: Passport for child

well, as a rule of thumb to us Canadian's - you leave the country, you need a passport.

filling out the forms and applying takes some time, but worth it in the end - b/c you never know when you're going to need it (passport).

Re: Passport for child

A passport for a child is only good for 5 years. And the price just went up. So far US citizens have it easy. When we go to the Caribbean we only need a birth cert. with state raised seal and government issued ID. For children under the ago of 18 no photo is needed. If they have one I would bring it. The only place in the Caribbean that you need a passport is Barbados. If it were me traveling with a 4 year old to Aruba I'd just have the birth cert.
