Passports

Just a little suggestion.

I have been reading on different sites that people ask questions passports and birth certificates.

I would recommend to everyone to spend the few dollars (Around $40.00) to obtain a passport. With a passport you will never have a problem at the airports. Also this will last you for 10 years before you need to renew it.

It is so much easier then carrying a photo I.D. and then other papers to prove your Citizenship.

Just a thought.

Re: Passports

Where I live passports cost more than $40, try around $85.

Re: Passports

Linda,

The cost of a passport is $97.00. I agree it is a good idea to get one now.

Re: Passports

Just renewed mine. But you better almost triple that 40.00.

The fee for a renewal is $67.00 + $13.00 for new photos (from Kinkos).

For a new passport...

Processing fee $55
Security fee $12
Application execution fee $30
Photos $13

Total: $110.00 (far cry from 40)

Trip to Aruba with your shiny new passport
Priceless...

FYI. If you want to expedite add another $60 for that service.

It's still worth having your passport, that's why I'm renewing just wanted to point out its not that inexpensive in money or time.

Re: Passports

I agree. Great idea and in the long run it might make everyone alot safer but cost has gone up............Cost for adult is $97, child under 16 $82, and renewals of an original $67. Lots of surcharges and fees included and I'm not sure if that includes the picture.

Re: Passports

My first passport was obtained in the early-mid 1980's and I cannot remember how much it or my renewal passport cost. However, my sister just applied for her first one and it cost her $97. That was the cost to have it done via the US Post Office and is excluding the cost of any expedition fee that one may require.

Re: Passports

Good advise...it makes everything run a lot smoother and you don't have to stress about it.

Re: Passports

My wife and I are going in January with some friends. We heard that starting January of 2006 a passport will be needed.

Re: Passports

We just got our passports and the cost was $95 each. $30 to the Post Office and $12 security fee, the rest was for the actual passport. Plus extra for the photo.
