phone calls from aruba

I plan on visiting Aruba in September. Can anyone tell me the best way to make a phone call to the States? Should I rent a cell phone, use the hotel phones or try to get a phone call while on the Island?

Also, I am staying at the Aruba Grand. Has there been any improvements at the hotel?
Thanks for your comments.

I always get an I-Call card at a store called Conexions behind Certified Market. It costs around $6 US and has around 60 minutes. You dial a local number on the card, enter your account number and pin, then dial the area code + phone number. It's real simple. You only get charged a local call from your hotel. I usually use a pay phone and it costs about 25 florin to call the local number. Depending on how long you talk, you can add another 25 florin.

Karen,
I responded on a similar question in the following posting which is a few postings ahead of yours. Take a look at that tresponse.

Aruba Grand - I haven't seen any obvious renovations happening there. Doesn't mean that there haven't been room issues repaired or re-done, however no obvious acctivity. That said, The Grand is one of those resorts that have a very high loyalty and return factor. Those that go there year after year just love it. Try it and let us know what you find out.

be well

rent a cell phone or use a calling card that you purchase there. DO NOT call from your hotel room.

Re: phone calls from aruba

If you dont want to be inconvenienced by finding a calling card then a phone to use it on I suggest Arubafastphones. It is reasonable, VERY easy, Pick up and drop off at the airport or they will deliver it to the hotel. SIt on the beach and call home, not to mention make reservations for dinner etc from the beach. I went with a group of people we all chipped in and rented one for the week EASIEST thing I ever did.
Charles thanks!

WE used the internet to keep tabs...$3.00 for 30 minutes. There was a place at the Alhambra casino that was open from 4pm to 11pm.
