So we leave two weeks away, do we rent a cell phone to the states or do we get a phone card and find a black phone? what are everyone's thoughts?

We bought a card for years and last year decided to rent a cell phone from Aruba Fast Phones. It was great - no standing in line waiting to use a phone, and we were able to give our number to family members before we left.

Although a calling card is much cheaper, I find that renting a phone is more convenient.

I have verizon and I just updated my personal cell phone for the week I was there to get service in Aruba. It worked great always had good signal. the per minute charge of course is more expensive then normal but we only used it to let family know we had arrived safely so it wasn't really expensive. I wouldn't recommend it if you will use it a lot probably.

Same as Dublin for us. We have Cingular/AT&T. Activated the phone for international calling and ability to use the phone if you want to pay the price. Out of the country we don't call home except on Christmas, but nice to have for emergencies.
