Phone Home
Verizon does not have a roaming plan. They charge a flat fee of $1.99/min. With our 3 kids remaining home in NY the Mrs. and I will be checking in nightly.... I was wondering if anyone here had tips on the most cost effective way to phone home. Calling Card, buy a 30 min. cell phone , etc....?

If you are bringing a laptop and will have internet - Magic Jack is a good alternative. I was impressed with quality of calls I have been able to get through Magic Jack.

I have verizon also and if the kids text you its cheaper, like 5 cents but if you text back I think its about 25...but a lot cheaper than calling....and you only talk about the important things and not idle chit chat.....
