Phones

What is the best way to call back to US? Can you use phone cards?

Re: Phones

When we were there last year we found an internet cafe in our hotel and they charged 25c per minute for calls to the US. It was so simple, you could pay cash or credit card, whatever you wanted to do. The line was very good too, no delay whatsover.
My advice is don't use the hotel phone otherwise they will charge you an arm and a leg, stick with the internet cafe's and shop around for the best deal. They are practically on every street from what I saw.
Good luck.

Re: Phones

Phone cards are the least expensive ways to call. But you can rent a cell phone,or bring your cell (if you can use it intern.), so is going to run more money(about $1.50 a min.-Cingular service,to call US), but do not underestimate conviniance.

Re: Phones

Phone cards that you purchase at the hotel desk have always worked well for me. It's amazing how long 30 min. is when you are on vacation & really don't want to think of home but promised the folks back home you would call. Also use the lobby phone instead of your phone in your room.

Re: Phones

I have seen questions associated with cell phone rentals but have not paid much attention to them. I have a Nextel and Verizon Wireless, but I just found out that neither company provides service in Aruba. Due to work, I will need immediate phone access even though I am on "vacation". Where are the places to rent phones and what do the packages, if any, run or is service based on a per minute call? Are there any hidden fees and are there cellular choices such as we have in the States?
Thank you in advance for any help regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
Dan

Re: Phones

You can use Cingular in Aruba however the rate is $1.49-$1.99 per minute. If your phone is GSM, tri or quadband & not sim locked you can buy a sim card from Setar or Digicell and your calls will cost you about 20 cents a minute (including calls to the U.S.) there is no charge for incoming calls. Or you can rent a cell phone while in Aruba- I would recommend Charles @ ArubaFastPhones .com.
