We are coming in February and are just curious on what we can expect to pay for dinners. We like to go to nice places for dinner (not too expensive but not cheap either). Last year we went to Hawaii and dinners usually costs about $80 which included dinner and a drink. Is this what we can expect in Aruba or is it more expensive? We were just told that by someone who was on a cruise and stopped there and went to Carlos and Charlies and said that it was very expensive. (Not that we are really planning on eating there) Are there any menus on line with prices?

In my opinion, the restaurants in Aruba are almost all reasonable. Of course, if you are used to going to a neighborhood restaurant and spending $30 for dinner for 2, Aruba will seem to be quite high. I travel quite a bit for my job, and I find most of the restaurants to be about the same as what I would pay for a meal in any city. In most places, you can get a steak for between $20 to $25. There are also some very good deals. For example, the French Steakhouse at the Manchebo Beach Hotel has a 5 course dinner (including steak) for around $30 per person, and you can get a bottle of wine for about $10. Good price, and good food.

----- Would not have dinner there. At resort look for the free tourist book called Menu. Has one page ads on about 20 restaurants with selected menu items with prices, hours, phone number, location on map, ...........

I'd agree with $80, but it depends on how much you drink at dinner. It's definitely more than we spend when we go to Uno's around here on a Sat. night!

I just checked my Credit Card Statement. It ranged from $47 to $125 US including tip for dinner for 2.

Because of what is available to us locally at home, in Aruba we splurge and tend to eat at the more expensive restaurants. Last September our least expensive meal $33 (Marina Pirata) to $53 (Marandi) most expensive. If you visit the Flying Fishbone, I would expect that type of price tag as well.

How did you like Marina Pirata, ArubaLisa? We were having dinner with our friends that we met in Aruba a few years back, and they said it's a must go to next year. They loved it.

That about what I've found. Some restaurants like Tony Roma's, Smokey Joe's or Alfredo's are less.

In the past I've usually plan to spend, on average, about $50.00 per person per meal with most meals averaging about $35.00. Now I'd say the average has crept up to about $40.00.

One night at Sole Mare we paid $55.00 per person which included a few drinks and desserts. The most expensive night out was at Valentino's (now closed) which was $99.00 per person. That included a $300.00 bottle of wine. The head waiter said they recommended the bottle for large groups like ours, but no one thought to ask the price.
