Prices for local beer and liquor

A lot of people have commented that the price of US domestic beer in Aruba to be high priced.

I'm curious how pricey the local beer is - Balashi I believe???

Also, how are prices in Aruba on liquor? Is it as advantageous to take some back to the states as it is in the Virgin Islands?

Thanks!

Re: Prices for local beer and liquor

A case of Balashi is still more money then a case of Domestic beer here in the states. I think I payed $30 for a case of it (10oz cans). This time Im bring my own. I get a case of the silver bullets for $17 in NYC.
I have spent a ton of cash on beer in Aruba, this time I'll carry the extra weight. Three Cases! Leaving in 13 Days. Enjoy Gov.

Re: Prices for local beer and liquor

HEY IT SOUNDS LIKE IT COSTS AS MUCH THERE AS IN THE BAHAMAS. MY HUSBAND PAID FOR CHEAP BEER I MEAN THE CHEAPEST WAS $8.50 FOR A 6 PACK AND THAT WAS IN 97. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW MUCH IT IS NOW. BUT THE RUM WAS VERY CHEAP FOR 151 BACCARDI. TOO BAD THEY LIMIT THE AMOUNT YOU CAN TAKE ON SHIP. I WAS ONLY ALLOWED 4 BOTTLES THAT STINKS.

Beer is more expensive on Aruba then the liquor, compared to other countries...i have my own bar/restaurant called Bingo! and we charge 3 dollars for a beer and 4 for a mix, premium is $4,50....pretty reasonable isnt it?

Re: Prices for local beer and liquor

Beer is higher there and the container is usually smaller (8 to 10 oz). The beer is most expensive at the pool or in a fancy place. There are local places around the island where you can get an ice cold bottle of Polar (Venezuela), Amstel Bright (Curacao) or Balashi (Aruba) for $1. The best place to get beer is the supermarkets just north of town. They run $25 to $30 for 10 oz bottles or cans. American beer is an "import" so it's best to stick to the local stuff which is your typical light lager meant to quesnch a thirst in a hot climate. Cheers.

Re: Prices for local beer and liquor

Unless you buy liquor at the airport dutyfree, liquor is about 50% higher in Aruba.

If you have a stopover in San Juan, you can buy at the duty free. Bacardi is real cheap.

Beer is also pretty expensive in Aruba, Balashi is somewhat cheap and actually pretty good.

I drink Sam Adams and if I have some weight left over I will bring a case.

Thats the only problem I have with Aruba, drinking is expensive. Even the price of beer is high at Hooters, they only have 12oz beers about $3.75 a glass a real ripoff.

Re: Prices for local beer and liquor

Hi Danny,

I'm curious, how do you bring 3 cases of beer in? If you fly in from Europe you can bring max 20 kilogramms in a suitcase. And then max 10 kilogramms i believe in handluggage. How do you do that?

Re: Prices for local beer and liquor

The only place liquor is cheap ( and not even that cheap) is in the airport on the way home.
