Question for Charles etc.

Charles or anyone else,

Did you hear about the Mariott Surf Club losing AC for an entire week? Is it true? And if so do you know if it is fixed? I am suppose to be staying there in 3 weeks. thanks!

Re: Question for Charles etc.

Was at the Surf Club last week. May 21 - 28. The air went off Tuesday at noon when a water pipe broke. It was a very unfortunate situation. Some of us made the best of a bad situation. Others chose to let it ruin their vacation. Marriott gave everyone a voucher for a free week for any of their vacation properties to be used by the end of 2006. The air went back on Sunday and from what I understand the situation is under control at this time. I do not think you will have anything to worry about.
ENJOY your trip!!!

I just returned from the Renaissance Aruba yesterday, and met a lady who was moved from the Marriott. As of Sunday they had not fixed it the AC problem.

Since I am arriving at the Surf Club on June 3rd, I called ahead to inquire and the AC is supposedly fixed throughout the building. I guess I'll find out shortly.

Was down from Tuesday afternoon to Sunday morning. Fixed now.

That resort is massive and under construction. These kinds of things do happen

Re: Question for Charles etc.

These kind of things happen - I was in Maui in 2001, the air went down there also. Fortunately, there was a great breeze, so we were never really uncomfortable. We were given some small compensation, but in no way did we let it ruin our vacation. Let's face it air conditioning can go out anywhere, even at your own home.
