Questions from new member Melissa M

    Howdy all

New member Melissa M is still in the process of joining the forum and cannot post yet.
She messaged me earlier and has these questions.

She is leaving for Aruba on Monday.

    Here are her questions:

    1) Can I walk to the main strip from the hotel? For example we like to eat at Gianni's and Texas de Brazil. I googled and it said its a 22min walk. My husband and I are able bodied and we have a stroller for my 3 year old. That's not necessarily long but is there a main road to walk on from there?

    2) At the Radisson, we could wait online the day before for a palapa or just pay in advance to reserve one. How does this work at the Marriott?

    3) I see they have restaurants on the property? Any favorites to recommend?

Hi Melissa! Welcome to the forum, almost Where are you staying and for how long? You mention palapas at Radisson (now the Hilton) and the Marriott. I believe the palapas are for guests only, but I may be wrong. If you are staying in Palm Beach everything there is a few minutes walk from the resorts with the Marriott compound the furthest from TdB, Gianni's, etc.

The Marriott "allows" guests the "privilege" of paying big bucks to reserve a good palapa on the beach. It is an option of course, but the hotel is the only one that knows which ones are actually reserved and which ones are available.

I don't know about "big bucks", but we don't use palapas at the Surf Club because of their location and layout, which IMO is very poor compared to the other resorts.

    http://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel...llaris-casino/

there are a list of restaurants on the marriott campus here.
there are 3 resorts on the campus....from North to South........ Marriott Hotel, Marriott Ocean Club timeshare, Marriott Surf Club timeshare.

We have eaten at the LaVista @ the hotel. It is overpriced, but the food and service are pretty good. Imo not outstanding, but good.
We have had a cup of coffee and a muffin in the hotel's lobby bar.
We have eaten a couple of times in the Champions in the Ocean Club, years ago. Food is pretty mediocre, but it filled a void as dear hubby wated to see a ball game and that was the place to see it at the time.
Also we have dined at Ruth's Chris. Terrific. But just the same as the Ruth's here in the USA.
