Radisson

Hi,

We are looking to book the Radisson for out Honeymoon in November. Can anyone give me suggestions on the accomadations? My Travel Agent gave us the option of partial ocean view or ocean view (which was $600 more). Is it really worth it? Also, does anyone have any experience with them upgrading because it is your honeymoon? Any help is MUCH appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Radisson

My honest opinion about any hotel is that I would rather see the beach from the beach.

I spend as little time in my room as needed.

Re: Radisson

Hi Jessica,
Honestly, for $600, I'd pass on the TOTAL oceanview--I have had partial ocean views at other hotels and it's still beautiful!! Any kind of view of the ocean is nice--so save that $600 for somethng else--maybe a nice sunset cruise or something (not that it would cost that much of course) but that's what I'd recommend
Enjoy!

Re: Radisson

Jessica,

Last November, I had my wedding reception and dinner on the Radisson grounds and at their restaurant, the Sunset Grill. We also stayed at the Radisson for the honeymoon of course!

I can tell you that Radisson will not give you an upgrade just because you're on your honeymoon. However, mention the One Cool Honeymoon Program upon check-in and you will get some free stuff! Drink coupons, bottle of champagne delivered to your room, nightly turn-down service, that kind of thing. It's great! We got bottles of champagne wherever we went! You also get other discounts all over the island.

As for partial ocean or ocean view, I personally think it's a waste to pay that much more for the ocean. You can go out to the beach day or night if you want the ocean....partial ocean was just fine for us..totally depends on the person I guess. You will love it no matter what!

Re: Radisson

Hi,
We stayed at the Radisson two years ago for our honeymoon. I forgot the exact name of the type of room we had but it could be considered a "mini suite" that had a partial ocean view. The balconies at the Radisson are fairly large in comparison to other hotels of its caliber (like the Hyatt) so that was part of the reason we chose the Radisson. Partial ocean view should be sufficient for you. I don't believe they upgraded our room but you might get champagne or something upon arrival if you tell them it's your honeymoon.

Re: Radisson

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. My wife and I stayed at the Radisson for our Honeymoon in July of '04. We absolutely loved it. Like you, we weren't sure if the premium price for Oceanview or Partial Oceanview were really worth it for us. We opted for the Gardenview room, and had no complaints at all. We stayed in the Curaco tower and are planning on going back this summer for our second anniv. I couldn't see how the view would make that much of a difference.

We didn't even bother to attempt an upgrade there. They gave us some 'honeymoon package' which wasn't much at all. We got a cheezy door hanger that had a lame honeymoon don't disturb joke, and a bottle of cheap champagne. So I wasn't going to waltz in and inform that we were honeymooners, since they already knew that.

Re: Radisson

We stayed at the Radisson in 2003. We had booked a garden view room. When we got there my husband asked if we could get a partial or full ocean view room. All he did was give them $20.00 and we had a larger room with a beautiful partial ocean view. I believe that if you are nice and there is one available they will gladly accomodate you. Make sure you stay in the tower, the other buildings are "motelish". You will like the Radisson. Lots of honeymooners and couples were there!

Re: Radisson

Dear Jessica,
My husband and I just got home last night from Aruba. We stayed at the Raddison --partial ocean view room. Save your money and go for the partial ocean view---you can only see a little of it ---but who stays out on the balcony?
This was our 2nd year at the Raddison, and highly recommend it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very nice--our room was on the 5th floor--very little noise if any.
Rooms lower than that might have more traffic and possibly more families with children.
Highly reccomend the Laguna Fish Market for breakfast, Gilligans for lunch, and the Sunset Grill for dinner (be sure to order the Chocolate soufle for desert---Yummmmm)
