Rental Car

We will be going to Aruba next week. Should be get a Rental car while we are there? We will be staying at the Marriott. And if we do, what kind of car should we rent? Which is the best rental? Thanks for your help!

Re: Rental Car

You don't need a car..theres taxi's, etc..we always rent for the two weeks that we're there...$150.00 week at Budget...worth it..we travel the Island- go from Casino to Casino...go snorkling all over the Island..we like the independency of having a car at our disposal when and if we need it. Have fun....with or without a car!!

Re: Rental Car

We took a tour offered by De Palm and got to see the highlights of the island. Island also offers a full-day Jeep adventure tour where you drive the Jeeps with groups of other people. The Marriott is the last hotel on the highrise row. If you plan on visiting various restaurants outside the hotel or other casinos you are within walking distance if you are in shape. Although what could be nicer than a nice stroll in the moonlight. All the highrise hotels are in a row. We usually stay at the Radisson as it is more in the center. Bus line runs frequently, right past the hotels is very reasonable, and very safe if you want to go into town. El Gaucho's is a must for a great steak (will need a cab) also Hostaria Da Vittorio (opposite the Radisson)for great Italian food. Cars can be a bit expensive. I really think you can easily take a taxi the few time you might need a ride alot cheaper.

Re: Rental Car

If you don't rent and go with a taxi there is one special taxi driver that will treat you right. He is a local that knows all the places to go on Aruba! And he owns his own brand new taxi. He was as nice and patient while I took numerous pictures!!
We paid him a flat fee to tour us over the island. While he dorve, he talked and tutored us on every aspect of life on Aruba. He even walked up the Cassabari with me!
I don't have enough good things to say about him. He made our trip just that much better :^)
Please look him up:
Cosme(like Bill Cosby) Alberts, taxi #58; Cell#: 568-4852.
Happy Trails,
Helen Marie
