rental cards

Hello Everyone,

We purchased a 2 week timeshare during our last visit at the Marriott Surf Club. We can't wait to return which will be the last 2 weeks in August. For those "old timers" I have a few questions:

Is it worth renting a car for the 2 weeks? Also, are the local car rental places reliable?

We have 2 teenage boys and would like to stay in contact when the wonder off. Our cell phones did not work last time we were there. Are there phones you can purchase/rent so that we can keep in contact with the boys on the island?

Thank you so very much for your responses!

Yes you can rent phones; just ask anyone on the island. They should be able to help you.

Re: rental cards

I would recommend it. Taxis can be a hassle and the Marriott is away from everything else so renting a car really makes sense. We've been renting fron Econo for several years now with no problems.

You can rent cell phones from Charles Croes & pick them up at the airport. I don't know the website, but I'm sure someone here does. That could be a bit pricey. Have you thought about using walkie talkies?

A car? Definately!!! There are good rates on small cars with air and some even give you cell phone - you just pay for the minutes.

Re: rental cards

Rent phones from Aruba Fast phones at the airport. If you pre-rent online you will be sent your phone number in advance so you can give your family in case they need to contact you in an emergency. Have rented two phones the last few trips to Aruba to keep in contact with my two teenage daughters (19 & 25). Great rate! You can either pick it up at the airport when you arrive or they will deliver to your hotel. Great reasonable way to stay in touch. Ask for Charles.

Re: rental cards

Dear Christina,

I suggest that you send an email to Charles Croes to:info@arubafastphones.com and reserve a phone prior your arrival to Aruba.
He will send you back an email with the cell phone number you will have while on the Island. You can pick up your phone right at the airport as you come out from customs.
You can drop off the phone prior checking in at your airline desk.
His rates are great, the reception is the best and you can call out anytime from any place. You can give your cell phone numbers to your children and can have a piece of mind that you will be able to contact them and they can call you as well.
I have done this several times and was not disappointed! Enjoy your trip!
