Now that our trip is getting closer I am now thinking about reservations. We have the visitaruba card so will use that when we can. At this time the only thing we have booked is the Tranquillo Lunch Sail. When should I reserve the cell phone? I also have more questions about that since I need two but will find that all out at the time I reserve my phone.
We have decided to do our own one day jeep tour. Should I reserve a jeep for the day online or just wait and do it at the hotel?
Since it will be low season do we need to make reservations for all the popular restaurants? If so how soon do they need to be made? Can you make them the same day if you want or do you need at least a couple? Thanks for everyones help. This board has been lots of fun and has made the anticipation of our first trip to Aruba exciting.
I'm just one of those people that HAS to plan ahead every detail, so I have made reservations online. For jeep rental sometimes you get better rates online. Just be sure you print your confirmations and bring with you! 2wks and counting !!!!!!
The conceige at your hotel can also make reservtions for you don't do every reservation to far ahead because you may change you mind when you get there after talking to other people at the pool & beach you find something else of interest. We were just there in Feb and we had made all the reservations ahead so we were on a schedule and didn't relax as much as I would have liked and did not really get to change my mind we are going back with our sons 5/19 and we'll do the jeep, the cell phones , maybe one or two dinner reservations but thats it the rest we will do either early morning or the night before as we go.
Barbara - thanks for the info. When you don't GET a confirmation and followup with emails that go unanswered (I understand there may be receipt issues with emails to Aruba).....what do we do? I'm not going to be very happy if we aren't able to rent a jeep on the day we've planned, especially after completing the on-line reservations form and giving ALL of the pertinent info (credit card included). I'm discouraged.
I like your advice CW. I do not want to be on a strict schedule but I also want to hit a few nice restaurants. I think we will make a few reservations and than as you say "as we go". Since you were just there in Feb what will be your "must eat at" choices. I am a first timer but the two restaurants that posters seem to be in agreement over is Madame Janettes and Driftwood. Thanks for your suggestions.
Char, I have also had problems with non responses to reservation requests. It has been suggested to me to get the hotel to call for you as soon as you get there. I suppose you could call whomever you're trying to reach directly. Good Luck! P.S. I think it's a good idea to check the cruise schedules for when you're there because that will have a bearing on how busy places will be!
