restaurant recomendation

My wife and I will be celebrating 10 year anniversary while we are on vacation in Aruba next month. I am looking for the perfect restaurant for this occasion. Nothing real fancy (not really my style), just great atmosphere and good food. I have a nice suprise I'd like to give her while we are at dinner too. Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: restaurant recomendation

Check on dinner cruises that are offered. One of the best is by Le Dome.
Also, some restaurants on the beach offer sunset dinner.

Mike, Flying fishbone is a restaruant in St. Nicholes, which is on the other side of the island if your coming from the high rise area.Dining is on the beach. I highly reccomend you make reservations for 6:00 so you can watch the beautiful sunset.Another great place is Mirandies.Flying fishbone is a 25-30 doller taxi ride each way.

Re: restaurant recomendation

Soooo many choices; you're bound to get soooo many *good* and varying opinions.

There were a lot of highly recommended restaurants we did NOT get to during our first-timer trip of 6 days last November. I can only give you 3 sugeestions based on what we really enjoyed:

(1) A window table facing the harbor at sunset at LG Smith Steakhouse. You cannot go wrong with the food, atmosphere and service here. My wife loved her steak but they have so much more. I would *definately* go back for (I had) the Lobster Bisque and humongous, tender Rack of Lamb. Priced moderately high but worth every penny, and the best margaritas (on the rocks, not frozen) I've had anywhere!

(2) Waterfront Crabhouse has Garlic Crabs to die for (wife had them there twice), and many other great seafood dishes. Let owner Roy know in advance it is a special occasion and he will make it an extra special event. (Mention my name and get a free toothpick after dinner.)

(3) A Sunset dinner cruise? We only did a sunset drink/snack cruise, but I think something like that could be real nice and very romantic for a milestone anniversary! Of course the food is only half the fun, but important as your main meal and for what you are paying. Several companies run sunset dinner cruises so them all out for menus, pricing, other people's recommendations.

Congrats, enjoy, and let us know what you chose.

Re: restaurant recomendation

Best on the island for food, atmosphere, background familiar US songs (recommend a few of you and your wife's favorites) and romantic and not overly as you say fancy. Ask for outside seating under the stars. PS Make sure you call ahead 4 or more days for a reservation. If by some chance you miss this place for your anniversary, call ahead and go there anyway. You'll never be sorry and neither will she. Madamme Jennetts!

Re: restaurant recomendation

Hi Michael,

I would definitely recommend Madame Janette. Our meals there were the best we had while in Aruba. It's a bit more upscale, but not at all 'stuffy.' Request outdoor seating. It's a lovely place, and a great way to celebrate your anniversary.

I would also recommend making a reservation. This restaurant has really caught on with folks. FYI..they are closed on Tuesdays. Good luck!
