Sorry if this is a repeat question ,Is Aruba Grand being leveled and turning into a RIU Hotel? I have not been on the board for a while.If so how is the progress?Thanks for any info

They are making great progress on the RIU Hotel. It looks gorgeous....just like a palace!!! Word is that they will be opening up this summer some time and I think they are currently booking for that time also, so must be pretty much on scheduled.

it is not leveled. I'm here now and they still have alot of work to do. Some say July others say the end of Oct. No way it will be ready in July.

I believe the old building was left standing, but they renovated it and added on to it...it is huge..said it was to open in April of '07...but I doubt it..we left there 3/22 and they were working 24/7 on it..

it will be ready in the summer of 2007

No, the Grand was not leveled. RIU kept the original building and built two more to look exactly like the original building. The first one paraells the original builing and is about the same size. the other one runs along the street and is the biggest building I have ever seen in Aruba. It looks like the great wall of China. it's huge. There goes all that space on their beautiful beach.

The Aruba Grand has been leveled since last year. New additions have been added and is scheduled to re-open as a Riu sometime this year.

yes it is already in progress. just returned and have to say this thing is an eye sore. it looks like it should be in Vegas

The buildings looked beautiful, yes the are big I don't know how many rooms they are working day and night. They have brought inenough of a construction crew to work in shifts so that it goes on schedule. There is a large area of beach i don't think they will be at a loss for space i wonder if they will have a few pools. i wonder price range if they are expensive or average.
