I couldn't agree more. Since they lifted the ban on development a few years back and "imported" all the help to build these new monstrosities... Used to be the only traffic jams were when a cruise ship was in town and even then it was only in Oranjestad

It's a shame that a few bad apples can make you rethink your peaceful walk home
7 trips in and still finding things to love. #8 will be great in November!

I will be honest, I am now rethinking my night time routine after dark. I will continue to walk to the casino I am thinking as there are always people out and about at 9-10pm when I go but may now take a cab home.

We're not usually out late at night, but still after sunset. We leave our car parked at a convenient lot in the Palm Beach area and walk to the beach, casino or restaurant. The tropical climate and relaxed environment creates a feeling of ease, not something that we experience at home. This level of calm can certainly bring one's guard down and if it gets to the point where we don't feel relaxed anymore we'll probably call it quits on Aruba. Sad to say...

The reason we return again and again is because of the people and safety. If the last part were to vanish so would I. That said, you won't find many places on earth with more than 100k people living there with less violent crime when compared to Aruba. Is Aruba as safe as my home town, probably not but its a lot safer than the town/city I lived in for the previous 20 or so years and I was not nervous living there, going to sleep with my windows open, etc.

I am now officially 100% confused. It references July 26 which is in the future, lol. Was there another incident involving a gun that I was not aware of? This sounds like a completely different situation.

Update- Ok, looks like I missed it 100% last year. This happened last summer it appears.

I saw that after my original post. Don't like it still but at least it was a year ago.
