Rude and obnoxious people...

Hi, I happened to be reading another travel website today. Actually it was a cruise website. It was an email that I received and the title to the link was something like "Passengers behaving badly". Basically it was a forum where people would tell their horror stories of witnessing rude and obnoxious behavior from other passengers etc... for example cutting in lines at buffets, constant complaints about everything...trying to reserve seats when you are not supposed to. Not letting people off of the elevators before trying to get on...pushing and shoving. You get the point. It was interesting to read some of the stories.

So I just thought I would ask people here if anybody has any horror stories from Aruba or any other vacation destination where you witnessed rude, obnoxious, strange behavior from people at the hotels, pools, excursions etc... or have been part of a confrontation.

I know "most" people are nice but every now and then you can run into some strange ones.

Anybody have any interesting stories?

The most vivid which comes to mind was during a stay at the Radisson. Three couples brought their "boom box" down to the beach for EVERYONE to hear.

For those of you from NJ, and I know there are a number of you , I felt like I was in Seaside Heights rather than a Caribbean resort. Lucky for us they were only there for a long weekend.

I have a second story regarding a stay at the Radisson, too gross to be descriptive, but suffice to say a woman allowed her toddler to use a linen napkin to do his duty on the beach in front of everyone at Gilligans, the beachside RESTAURANT.

The insult is that the restroom was on the other side of the bar. Mom was too busy "playing" happy hour to be bothered to be a "MOM". Better the beach than the pool.

In my experience - cruises are the worst for finding rude people. I think it is just too many people confined into a small area.

I'll remember vividly getting pushed and shoved while waiting to get off the boat in Barbados on a cruise several years ago.

I experienced 2 extremely rude young Japanese girls while on a Bus Tour of the Dutch countryside that left out of Amsterdam. These 2 girls thought they were the most important 2 on the bus. They disregarded instructions, they pushed their way off the bus at every stop (had to be first on and first off). They would block peoples views to take pictures for extraordinary amounts of time. I grew up in NY and live in NJ now and never experienced such disregard for others in my entire life.

I think it seems that way because is NY/NJ people are everywhere when you go down to AUA. More than 6% of the population of the USA live in the NY Metro area. I would venture to say that 30% or more of US tourists in Aruba are from that area.

In my travels of the US I don't find us Northeasterrners any extra rude - I just find we move a bit quicker than a majority of the rest of the US.

LOL.... I never take offense to people making fun of us NY/NYers - it's just the way it is!

Once at the Alhambra casino, some lady put her cigarette out in/on my pocketbook.
I wanted to strike her, but instead told one of the Alhambra workers, they reviewed the video tape they escorted her out the door. All the while i was sneering at her.

Another time at the Alhambra, my husband was the shooter on craps for almost 45 minutes and some guy who was losing there at the craps table was threatening and yelling at him the whole time. It was ugly.
