OMG that's horrible! Not just horrible - but dangerous. Glad you caught her. That could be one of the top 10 rudest things I have heard. Did you do anything to provoke her or was she just intoxicated?

My wife and I were in New Orleans during New Year's a few years back and I caught a hand going into her purse trying to grab her wallet. There were so many people - I couldnt even see what body the hand was coming from - but I gave that hand a good wack and it quickly retreated!

In my travels of the US I don't find us Northeasterrners any extra rude - I just find we move a bit quicker than a majority of the rest of the US.

LOL.... I never take offense to people making fun of us NY/NYers - it's just the way it is!
The accent tends to make the people from NY/NJ and the Boston area stick out a little more than some others. Perhaps that also factors into the perception of people on vacation.

I actually have a book full of the rude and obnoxious things people do. Almost every day that I work, I see something new to add to the list.

i DO take offense at folks making fun of and generalizations (insults) to people.
this forum is for all that follow the rules.

folks that do read insulting remarks by those that post those remarks.....could be put off and feel that those comments are indicative of the aruba.com site.

rude and offensive generalized comments are not to be tolerated.

I was walking downtown and one of the guys that hand out the coupons for jewelry shopping tried handing me one and I said "No I dont want one" He flipped out and started swearing at me.. I couldn't believe it, that was a first time ever, in Aruba. He must of been having a bad day, maybe the sun had fried his brain..

Bill Buckner...It took us Red Sox fans until the 2004 ALCS to get over that one.

As much as I can appreciate the over-abundance of Red Sox fans hereabouts, would you please leave the sports rah rah rah to a sports page?

And as for the concept of general rudeness, I can honestly say the only experiences I have had to endure in Aruba would be at (and I'm truly sorry to say this) the Tamarijn, always at the shuttle stand.
I can't count the number of times my lady and I would be waiting (sometimes endlessly) for the shuttle, obviously at the "front" of the line, when all of a sudden a gaggle of brain-dead teens, or way too freakin' happy (translated to drunk) casino goers would less than politely FORCE their way onto the shuttle, ahead of all within the distance of the shuttle.

Uh, I don't remember being taught to be that pushy as a kid, and I guess I sort of hope that those around me won't be that ignorant, but, year after year after year I'm proven wrong.

I guess it really just means I should walk instead of dealing with drunken bozos....

As for rudeness from the people who actually live on the island...
    it's never happened.

Only a tourist would have the audacity to be that, shall I say, impolite.

    Sorry if that offends anyone.

I think I'd blow a gasket if that happened. Waiting for shuttles in the heat can be frustrating - and then to be cut. WOW!

Don't really think this goes into the rude catagory...but during one of our first trips to Aruba we parked in the lot beside the McDonalds..downtown...and a straggly looking gentleman came over to our "openair"jeep and offered to watch it for us..for $2.00 of course...well, my girlfriends husband and I put our sunglasses in the glove compartment and assumed they would be there when we got back>>>>WRONG!!! We learned our lesson that day...however, the glasses were cheapies so it was no big deal....we laugh about it all the time now....
Only other thing, and it doesn't involve Arubians....chair saving !!!!! Nothing makes me crazier than going to the pool or beach and seeing empty chairs all over the place with nobody using them.....
