At Costa Linda the rule is 2 hours. I'll go down and take a palapa around the pool if available and then spend an hour in the pool jogging so the 30 minutes would really be a problem. 2 hours works for me and, even in high season, there are always palapas on the beach available. The pool palapas are at a premium then. Haven't run into any rude people except, occasionally, tourists. The man blowing his cigar smoke in my face at the casino (I just moved), etc.

The year we stayed at the Tamarijn over Christmas and New Years the resort was sold out and there were always plenty of chaises piled up on the beach for the taking.

This past June, the resort was sold out again and there were addtional guests using the beach from the Divi Village and Dutch Village and again there were no issues getting chaise lounges. I wouldn't worry.

You can see group of chaises piled up at sunset in the photo below, there was another set of chaises lounges down the beach about 35 feet away.

If anything I would plan on bringing extra sunscreen if you are not sitting under a palapa. The sun is extremely strong and it is very easy to burn, even on a cloudy day. Like my Mother just reminded my family, the sun is almost twice as strong as it is in Florida because you are that much closer to the equator.

We have had the same experience at the Divi/Tam as Mr.Ratt with the shuttles. I really get peeved when the parents of the obnoxious kids stroll up and act like it's cute that their kids are on on the shuttle screaming and yelling at all the rest of their group to hop on and overload the shuttle. Never mind they just rudely jumped ahead of everyone and now they think they can "reserve seats" for their friends and family??!!!! I find this behavior appalling when adults cut in line and act like they didn't know others were waiting ahead of them. Some of the adult offenders have made comments like they called and reserved the shuttle.
The good news is that I have noticed that people who are standing waiting are now saying something to the offenders!!

well...I might have to disagree with that about Divi Beach...this past fall it was so bad....since some of the beaches were washed out because of the rain, other hotel guests were using our beach...we would get there about 9-10 and have no chairs.....we actually resorted to having friends of ours take 4 with them and then we would get them when we got there...
As for chair saving....I agree that you should be able to go to lunch, grab a drink, take a dip...etc...but coming down at 6am, throwing towels on chairs and then leaving them half the day so you can do other things in just not right.....

To go back to the shuttle issue, have you ever noticed the vast majority of the people that do this seem to be from one specific area of the world?
It's pretty much the reason that "typecasting" happens. Perhaps if people, of varying ages, were to pay a little more attention to how they might feel if this sort of rudeness happened to them, then perhaps there might be a little more manners to go around. The kids, well, I'll never accept the fact that it's supposed to be "okay" because the brats are on vacation, but hey, if I'm not mistaken, I'm on vacation as well, and, guess what, I actually paid for mine, as opposed to some obnoxious 10-16 year old.

Sorry about that, I wouldn't normally crack off this way, but on this subject, I'm past the point of being "understanding". All it takes is courtesy, something sorely missing in some parts of this wonderful world of ours, from both children, and from the supposed adults that have raised them.

It matters not how much you've had to drink, how many times you've been to Aruba, how well you think you "know" the staff.
We're all there to have a good time, and hopefully extend courtesy and good manners to those around us, who, by the way, are also trying to have a good time.

Simply put.... there's another shuttle in a few minutes, and if there's someone already there waiting, PLEASE, have the decency and courtesy to wait in line, politely, behind those who were there first.
The casino isn't going anywhere, and the Divi's staying where it is too.
    What the hell's the rush?
Relax, don't get all bent out of shape, and enjoy the shuttle ride,
    WHEN YOUR TURN COMES.

Personally Mr. Ratt you have nothing to be sorry about. First IMO you hit it on the head, second better of cracking off here than in Aruba and possibly ruining your vacation. I also must say that using the excuse to much to drink is lame. Trust me I can put them down with the best of them but I keep my composure.
I would say I respect my surroundings at all times and I hope others respect mine.
So Mr. Ratt if my DW and I ever see you in Aruba or any place else, my shuttle seat is yours and your better half Might make up for the rest of the Jackasses of the world for that one brief moment.

OK..... After reading these posts I will post my beef.

We are lucky enough NOT to have obnoxious guests at the Amsterdam Manor.

But on the beach we sometimes get groups from Latin Countries staying at other hotels inland setting up near us with coolers filled with booze and drinking getting rowdy, noisy, and messy. They often have small children and after a few drinks seem to forget about them and let them run loose.

    Now off my soap box.

Mr. Ratt...You are absolutely right about the shuttle at the Tam. I have experienced the same thing a number of times.

I do not recall any "rude people". Maybe it has to do with the fact that you can always find a Happy Hour in Aruba!
