Re: RUI ARUBA GRAND ?

josh - if you want to try something different, check out our place at www.arubavacationhouse.com
Another alternative is to try to rent a timeshare from someone for the week you want to go. Just post on this Bulletin Board or on www.aruba-bb.com on the accomodations section and state what weeks you are interested in. There is problably someone out there not using their own timeshare and may be willing to rent it to you.....Cheryl

Re: RUI ARUBA GRAND ?

The Aruba Grand will be closed for at least two years while they turn it into a Mega resort. It will have 450+ rooms and will be all-inclusive. It will not be the same hotel that kept us going back for 14 years. The beach which was large and had plenty of huts and shade for all, will now be as crowded as all the rest of the hi-rises. Progress. Time for something new.

Re: RUI ARUBA GRAND ?

We just came back from the Riu Aruba Grand. We have been staying there since 1974 on our honeymoon when it was the Aruba Sheraton. We have gone many times since. We are sooooo sad that the Riu bought out the hotel as it will never be the same again. It has had many owners but none destroyed its distinct flavor and empty, large beach. What a bummer. We don't know where we will go next winter.

Re: RUI ARUBA GRAND ?

Linda, we've also been staying at the Grand every year since 1996 and will miss it for what it was - smaller hotel with nice quiet beach.

But we did discover Amsterdam Manor a couple of years ago and have been spending our weeks there now. Has alot of the same qualities the Grand had - smaller hotel (72 rooms), quiet, nice uncrowded beach area. We've been very happy there and are glad we found something similar to the Grand.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions about comparisons between the two.

If you can afford the Radisson, stay there.

Re: RUI ARUBA GRAND ?

Hi Amy,
Isn't the Amsterdam Manor across the road from the beach?
