Is it safe?
Ok...so of course I am pretty excited about our trip...and I am just all over the place trying find information and plan stuff for us to do.. its exciting just to think about.
But while I am planning...of course I am blabbing my mouth about the trip and how I am ready to get away from this god awful snow.....and the first thing out of more than a few people's mouth is...be safe... huh So my question is...why do they keep telling me that. I would ask them but then they will tell me about what they "heard" (because of course none of them have really been). So I am asking the people here... Did I miss the memo that says that Aruba is unsafe...???? Any information is greatly appreciated... Kisha

are u a woman traveling alone? if so, that is a typical thing folks say "be safe"
in aruba, as in all places............exercise good judgment when traveling anywhere. aruba is safe. but, be proactive and cautious. so as folks say........godspeed, safe travels, safe flights and be safe ![]() andrea Quote:

Pleeeeeze.....Aruba is as safe as any vacation spot.
Be safe.....happy travels....godspeed....be well.....none of these mean you're traveling to an unsafe place....

>>> "Aruba is unsafe...????"
----- Aruba is safer than most places in the States. When I walk my dog at night in the States I worry. I don't worry walking around at night in Aruba. Yes, petty crime is everywhere so leave your expensive rings at home. Use your hotel safe. Don't leave expensive items on the beach. Last edited by TomFrederick; 02-06-2010 at 11:32 AM. |

Ditto! I've traveled to Aruba many times alone when my husband was unable to get away from work.....never had any problems and never once did I ever feel "unsafe".

Same here, I am a nervous nelly in many places. I cast cautious glances at people all the time when I am somewhere I am not familiar with. But in Aruba, it's different. I never feel unease, even downtown at night. But yes, as always, exercise caution as a general rule of thumb and you're ok.

We (2 Adults,2 children) visited Aruba last August for the 1st time and we absolutely LOVED it there. We felt very safe wherever we went. We found the people there extremely nice and friendly. They would go out of their way to help you. We can't wait to go back there. I would be willing to bet that you will love it there and will want to go back. Just be alert and use common sense which applies to any destination. Stay on the beaten path.
Have a blast!!! I'm jealous! Wish I was going to Aruba again soon.

I watch the tourists more closely than the Arubans. You just take the normal precautions that you would take anywhere else. I have stayed here alone and never had a problem and I go to a different casino than DH so if a lot of people are walking, I walk - if not I take the shuttle. Linda
