IN THE SAND

An elderly man walks across the street from La Cabana to the beach front and starts looking at the sand. Walks all around the beach chairs and just looks at the sand. Finally walks over to the shore and looks at the sand as it goes from a sun-blazed dryness to a soft ocean wetness. The sand has more shells than before and he turns and walks in the direction of Costa Linda - All the while keeping his head turned down and looking at the sand. An hour or so later he comes back to the beach in front of La Cabana and (head still looking down) walks over to the guy in charge of beach chairs and mumbles something, gets a towel and sits in a recently cleaned off beach chair. Finally he looks up at the sun and dozes off for a few momments before going for a dip in the water.

A five year old kid swims up to him and says " what is your name? He responds and then she asks " Why are you always looking at the sand? Break your neck or something?" He says "No. I was just looking at all the people" How could you do that?" she asks. You never looked at anyone. My mom says your neck must be broken" He looks at the kid and says:"

"This morning a young child came to this beach walking with his grandpa. His granpa was a working man and has big stong feet. After that, lots' of folks came out but there was this one special little girl that came out and she didn't sleep well last night. I know that cause she dragged her sand pail behind her and just dumped it under the chair and went to sleep. I know that cause her foot prints vanished! Her daddy must have carried her back cause I saw big foot prinst next to the chair that got a bit bigger and then they walked back to the resort. I bet she weighed alot. I also saw a couple that just got married. Their feet were so close to each other as they walked down the beach. Sometimes they almost tripped on each other and then they stopped and gave each other a big hug - I bet they are still walking around here somewhere. What do you think?" "SILLY YOU" screams the kid in pure delight. And follows with "That was my mommy and daddy and they are always hugging! You are so silly." She wades over to him and says "Silly but nice" gives him an small peck on the chin and goes back to her mom and dad to tell about the old man.

Finally her dad says "OK OK show me where he is" The little girl walks over to a small spot on the beach and instead of pointing out to the man swimming she points to the sand and says - "There. See daddy? Those are nice feet"

On Aruba, you just have to know where to look.

Re: IN THE SAND

I don't know where you come up with so many stories - they are great! You really should put all these little stories together and publish a book. Would be great reading while relaxing on the beach. You really have a way with words. If you ever decide to persue this, let me know and I would like a signed copy. Thanks for the nice stories.
