Sand storm on a beach?

Hi to all. We are going to stay at Wyndham next month! I heard that the beach in front of the hotel might be very windy.....
I experienced "a very windy beautiful beach" in Maui.
That was bit painful when we sat on the beach....
What beach would you recommend if we had to evacuate from a sand storm? Or maybe we will keep walking to where the wind dies down

TTYL!

Re: Sand storm on a beach?

Good Day!!
when the wind blows up, it blows up no matter where you stay. Last March, there was 2 days that the wind was so bad, the sand sandblasted us and a ship could not dock for the day! You just don't know. Walking the beach, you round that bend by the Divi and head towards the Tam, and yes, you get sandblasted more. I think no matter where you may be, it's better than Mich right now!!! Enjoy!

Re: Sand storm on a beach?

It can get windy in Aruba especially in that area for some reason, but I don't think its that concerning. I have been on that beach in the past and yes you may get some sand blown on you from time to time but its not that bad, I think some people just like to whine

Re: Sand storm on a beach?

was at the wyndham in april. i couldn't believe the difference on the beach from the other hotels i've stayed at in aruba. i am a beach person. don't care for the pools (can get those at home). however, i turned out to be a pool person staying at the wyndham due to the pelting sand on the beach. such a shame!

Boca Catalina
Arashi
Fishermans huts areas

Anywhere where there aren't tall buildings. The buildings have a tendency to create wind eddies and this can indeed be a painfull experience.

As a kid (a ton of moons ago) before hotels etc. there still was the wind issue however I only remember it as pleasant and prickly. What can I say?

Re: Sand storm on a beach?

Just returned last weeek from Aruba for the 1st time and the sand storms were awful when on the beach- in yur ears eyes, mouth and forget putting on lotion because you look like you rolled around in the sand. One thing I didn't like about Aruba- Good Luck

Re: Sand storm on a beach?

I have stayed at the Wyndham and it does get extremely windy and begins to pelt you pretty hard, however, there is staff watering the sand to minimalize the issue. I have also stayed at the Radisson and the wind is not nearly as bad. It is only a couple hotels down, may want to use that beach area.

Re: Sand storm on a beach?

Palm beach is not nearly as windy as in front of the wyndham. the wyndham has no protection from wind you'll find it calmer from allegro to holiday inn

Re: Sand storm on a beach?

The "sand storm" is worse at the Wyndham because it is the first high rise on the beach. (the phoenix is pretty far away) The sand storms don't seem as bad at The Radisson, etc because of the buildings on either side. The Marriott even gets a little sandy if the wind is blowing a certain way.
