Just returned after 10 days there. High visibility teams were evident, not only in Oranjestad but on the beaches as well.
Divi Resorts , Bucuti, Casa del Mar all had private security forces 24 x 7 in plain sight.

I took the time to walk up to a team of Polis officers, and shook their hands and offered a "well done" for their protection. I suggest that true Aruba lovers make this gesture to any Polis you encounter, I think they deserve it.

I didn't notice any security at the Marriott. The police patroled in their usual jeeps on the beach, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's not needed. We felt just as safe as we always have.

It's terrible what happened last spring, but freak occurences happen everywhere. I've been EVERYWHERE in the world, and no place is as safe as Aruba - including Birmingham or my home town of Charlotte, NC.
Safety is not a concern on Aruba. The only thing to worry about is how to tell your family and friends that you'll never want to leave!
