Security question

I want to perpose to my gf in Aruba, but if I bring an expensive ring will it be safe to leave the ring in the room safe when we are not in the room? Or should I not bother with it? I always hear stories of maids being able to open the safes and steal from them.

Please help I really want to ask her but I won't unless I have the ring with me.

Thank you

Re: Security question

Mike, what a wonderful romantic you are!! Your girlfriend will never forget her proposal -- what a fabulous idea!!

We've been vacationing on Aruba each year since 1992 and have never, ever encountered any problem with items locked in the room safe including jewelry and large sums of cash. It certainly will be safer there than if you carry it around in your pocket. I don't think you have a think to worry about!

Best of everything to both of you!

Re: Security question

I think the room safes are pretty safe I have never had a problem, but then again I never left a expensive diamond in one. Maybe you could call where you are staying I know at some hotels they have safe deposit boxes you can rent at the front desk. It may be worth looking into. I think the Holiday Inn does..... check it out....

Re: Security question

Your ring will be safe, you make the combination up,the only other person that could get into it would be security..

Re: Security question

I think you should be okay with the room safe. I had quite a bit in the room safe and didn't have any problems.

However, I didn't have very expensive jewelry to store.

Depending on the hotel you are staying at, you may want to ask the hotel to hold it for you.

Re: Security question

I have never has a problem at the rennisance. There was a case where someone locked themselves out of the safe and they had to have a lock smith come in and drill it open. you program your safe with your own code to open.

Re: Security question

Mike- I would say it depends on where you are staying but I've never had a problem in ALL the years I've been. I bring my Rolex and other expensive jewelry and lock it up.

Re: Security question

We left everything in our safe and it was all SAFE and sound. You set your own code when you put stuff in there. I think you would be fine. Congrats

Re: Security question

No one can guarantee anything, partcularly readers on these boards, but generally speaking, a PROPERLY LOCKED room safe *should* fulfill its purpose.

You might also have the option of placing the item in a safe at the hotel's front office. Call, email or write the facility in advance, and ask.
