Re: sharks?

I have heard the resorts all dump some of their waste into one particular spot in the ocean to keep the sharks out of the tourist area.

Re: sharks?

The sharks are on the North side of the island. I have heard the natives dump garbage into the ocean in this area and it attracks the sharks.

My husband is a scuba diver and has been out several times and never saw any sharks in Aruba.

You would probably have more of a chance seeing one in Florida!

Re: sharks?

There are only sharks on the north side.
But you will not swim over there. (you know what I mean, if you were there!)
Dont worry! No sharks on the hotelside.
Enjoy!

Re: sharks?

Been to Aruba several times and have never seen of heard of any problems on the "tourist side" of the island. HOwever it is a known fact that there are many sharks on the other side of the island. Anyone else wondering why they are still looking for Natalie on the small island when all the locals know about the sharks?

Re: sharks?

we just returned from Aruba and when we were out at Ren island there was a shark 15-20ft outside the breakwall of the family side beach and lagoon. The shark was about 9ft and the staff thought it was a nurse shark. It was rather spooky seeing the shark that close especially since people were venturing out in the same area (large corral reef) a few days prior.
