apparently there are, but i guess know to avoid the beaches.
the aruba sharks are well aware of the tourism industry and maybe are staying away from the beaches for the good of all.

i do have a friend whose husband caught a shark while fishing off shore.
but in all of the years that i have been going to aruba, the only time i saw a shark was while scuba at the perdinalles and it was a sand shark.

There are sharks there. No attacks however. If you check with the Shark Research Institute you will find only one recorded shark attack in the entire Netherlands Antilles and none in Aruba. The only one on record occurred in 1952 in Curacao. Keep in mind that these are REPORTED shark attacks. There could be some that go unreported for some reason. Venezuela has had 10 reported shark attacks since 1960, the last in 2005.

Sharks visiting Aruba are there on vacation to relax. That's what I would do if I was a shark

Worldwide unprovoked shark attacks have been increasing annually since 1900. Shark attacks go beyond 5 deaths, leaving dozens scarred, maimed and mutilated.

People do kill sharks. Often for food and medicinal ingredients and sometimes for sport fishing.

We spent a week this past July at a beautiful beach on the east coast of FL, about 100 miles from our home.
We had a timeshare on the beach.
A few of the days we were banned from entering the ocean due to sharks.
The other days we dared not to.

We much prefer Aruba where there are no shark worries.
