shells

Is it really against the law to take shells home? I have a collection of shells from the beaches we've gone to, and I was hoping to find/buy a few while in Aruba.

Thanks,
Wendy

Re: shells

There was a recent post on this site last year I stated that I took some back from the divi I found snorkeling. Some natives posted that its against the law and they'll press charges against you but what I found was that wasn't the case. I just put them in my suitcase and now they're on our bookcase to cherish forever and they're beautifull. I only took the nicest dozen I found and one was 7" long a beaut. Don't worry I'm sure alot of people do it.

Wendy: I know living things like star fish are not alloweed to be taken but I have about 10,000 shells that I have brought home with no problem.

hey wendy
For the last four visits my daughter and i always fill a small jar with shells and beach coral. I have never had a problem returning with our mementos.

LOL - I sort of have a tendancy to stretch the truth a little!
