Shipping Luggage to Aruba

I am booked at the Divi Aruba Beach Resort form December 27th to January 13th. I have my flights and all is set. I would like to know if anyone else has shipped their luggage to Aruba before ariving? I have done some seaching on the web, but haven't really found a service. Maybe UPS, FedEX or DHL? Any input would help if anyone has done this to Aruba.

Thanks in advance!

Glenn

Re: Shipping Luggage to Aruba

Just curious, who would you ship it to? Have you located someone who has a service that accepts delivery of your luggage and stores it for you till you arrive? And then delivers it to you at your resort upon arrival? If so please share the info, I wouldn't mind doing that instead of schlepping it! Depending on the cost of course.

Re: Shipping Luggage to Aruba

We go to Aruba for 4 weeks every year, so I looked into shipping some supplies for our time share via UPS. The cost was ridiculous.
We carried them with us and then store them
with a time share company that picks them up, keeps them safe and returns them to you when you arrive. $25 to $50 per year, depending on how much you store. A whole lot easier than lugging these items every year.

Re: Shipping Luggage to Aruba

We shipped some stuff once....about four yrs. ago...still waiting for it to arrive..thank goodness it was only clothes.I would suggest taking it with you...why worry that it won't be there when you get there!!
Besides- all you really need at the Divi is a few bathing suits..cover-up- flip flops-suntan lotion and a great attitude for a fabulous Island....have fun...

I don't understand why you would do this? Seems like a lot of work just to save yourself a few minutes of checking your luggage but to each their own.

Re: Shipping Luggage to Aruba

This will be my third vacation to Aruba. Third year in a row actually. I use a power wheelchair and carrying luggage is not easy. I will be traveling with my brother who uses a wheelchair as well and a friend / assistant. Luggage for 3 carried by one person is a bit much. So I had the thought of sending some of the luggage to the hotel ahead of time.

I appreciate the feedback here and I guess my idea will be scrapped.

Glenn
Shipping anything to Aruba is very expensive and if you ship it you will have to pay taxes on whatever you ship. That can be up to 50 percent of its value.
Due to your special circumstances I think if you contact your airline they maybe able to offer you a solution. Perhaps someone to help with the luggage.
