Re: single woman visiting aruba - is it safe?

I went by my self this year. It was a blast. I felt very safe and never had any problems with people approaching me or making me feel unsafe. I probably wouldnt recommend going any where with strangers. Just use the same common sense you use at home and youll be fine!

Re: single woman visiting aruba - is it safe?

I am married but travel to Aruba solo all the time. I always feel safe but I am also
50 and take precautions like I would at home. I stay at the Tamarijn so I don't have to travel off the resort if I don't want to. They have evening entertainment to keep you occupied and I always meet alot of people around the pool and in the ocean which makes it nice. I have made alot of wonderful friends and I never feel lonely or out of place. I take the bus downtown for shopping and am totally relaxed with that and have also taken the bus or taxis up to the highrises to walk and look at the resorts up there.
Go and have a good time, the island people and the majority of vacationers are very friendly and helpful, they will make you feel very welcome.

Re: single woman visiting aruba - is it safe?

Hi SS. Yes, Aruba is VERY SAFE for single female travelers, but like anyplace else, don't be stupid and be aware of your surroundings. I am a 40-something, blond female and have been to Aruba 4 times in the last 2 years by myself, and plan to go again this summer and over the holidays, and have never had a problem. Security is always visible, but just be sure to take the usual precautions such as locking your doors, including sliding door, don't take off with people you don't know, and don't get so drunk that you don't know what you're doing and can't defend yourself. Other than that...HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME. The Aruban people are the nicest and most genuine people you will EVER meet, and I can't wait to go back to see my friends and make new ones. They are all willing to help you if you have any questions and want to make your stay as pleasant as possible, so take advantage of their hospitality!!!! ENJOY!

I am not a single woman, but travel to the island alone and feel perfectly safe. Keep your eyes and ears open just as you do at home and you will be fine.

Aruba is much safer than most US cities. Just don't leave night clubs with complete strangers- Nothing good can come out of that. I've been going to Aruba for years now.. I would walk across the island at midnight by myself. The locals have always been wonderful!! ONE HAPPY ISLAND!!

Unless you're looking for trouble or do something really stupid you will be just as safe as anyone else there. By that I mean you will have no problem. Enjoy

Re: single woman visiting aruba - is it safe?

It's safe. Safer than Jamica, Cancun, ect. Regardless of what you hear I wouldn't worry about it while your there. Any vacation site you go to can have questionable area's but I've driven all over the island and not had any problems. In fact I'm going back this Sunday with my wife ,daughter, and my brothers bunch. If you have any other questions please feel free to email me.
