Re: skateboarding

I don't think you want him skate boarding on the street with the way they drive.

Re: skateboarding

the roads in aruba are quite bumpy..there are not so many good roads to skateboard.
there is a place where skateboarders skate, it's near the main bus stop in Oranjestad. some mini ramps, should be fun. nothing like what they have in the states though.
oh , and the cops can be difficult about it so be on the lookout ..hehe

Re: skateboarding

cathy,

I'm sure he can find someplace to do it but...there are far better things for a young person to do there that. Besides he has an opportunity to do some great things which he cannnot do at home.

How about giving the lil' grinder a break and try some NEW things for a change?

Check a Wal Mart or what ever for a mask & snorkle set.(Like $15 maybe) The fish, coral, eels & turtles are amazing!!! Stick him on a banana tow ride or similar -I guarantee you'll hear no whining about that! Swimming pools slides there are PLENTY of things he will enjoy!

He won't want to be in a hot parking lot grinding rails.

I'm sure you will ALL enjoy Aruba! Have Fun!

Re: skateboarding

There is a new recreational park in Jaburibari (about 5 minutes from the hotels). They have places for the kids to skateboard. It is a wonderful new facility. The hotel concierge should be able to give directions.
Have fun!

Traffic is jammed downtown; may be dangerous, so be careful. Tourist won't pay much attention to him; may be dangerous, so be careful. Local are busy working everywhere; may be dangerous, so be careful.

Re: skateboarding

uhm.. I used to skateboard as well.. I don't recommend him coming with his skateboard.. cops CAN be annoying sometimes & you have to know where to skate.. I used to do it illegally.. plus not every road here is smooth enough to skate like in the US..
