So bummed out! Need advice

We are going to Aruba for the 1st time in a couple of weeks, very soon. We were so excited! We had booked the Westin for 10 days 2 months ago. Well I just checked their website yesterday and there is a message now saying that the pool will be closed the entire time we are there! We booked through Orbitz is there anything we can do? We really don't want to be stuck staying in the middle of a construction zone where we can't even use the pool or have a pool side lunch or drinks. Plus all of the contruction noise and mess! I dont even know if Orbitz will allow us to change our reservation, but if they do what hotel should we go for that will have NO construction 100% guarantee? What about the Radisson? We are so bummed out, we don't want to be stuck in contruction noise for 10 days with no pool. I feel that it is very shady that they waited for only a couple of weeks before to make this announcement.

I forgot to say that they are remodeling the pool. SO I am not sure if that just means retiling it, or completely ripping out and putting in a new pool or what. It will be closed a month and a half so I am guessing it will be a pretty major redo. Also they are redoing a lot of the landscaping it says.

Have you tried calling us at Orbitz? Call our customer service number at 1-888-656-4546. If they don't resolve the situation, email me at bhoyt@orbitz.com. I am the head of corporate communications for the company and I'll look into the matter. Thanks for using Orbitz!

Excellent msg from BHoytOrbitz..! Sounds like you'll get some help from Orbitz.... Go for the Radisson..... nicer grounds, great pool and smaller hotel (more cozy) than the Westin.... Also lots more palapas for a lot fewer rooms... you'll get one every day!

Hello Aruba2613. I am the Director of Sales & Marketing for the Westin Aruba. First let me apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We do have all other resort facilities fully operational including our very large beach but I do realize a pool is important for your stay. We have arranged for all of our guests to use the swimming pool at The Mill Resort right across the street as an alternative pool. I would like to continue this conversation off line and see how we can help still make your stay a great one at our resort. Please feel free to email me at david.wahba@westin.com. Thank you.
