    some general observations

As i had said in my aruba story thread ...we landed yesterday from the direction that we usually take off. we could see clearly the new container port area and it was busy with a couple of ships there. such a great idea to pull that whole cargo container area away from the downtown.
the old port/container area is now solely a cruise port. the clean up of the area looks good.

traffic....downtown tough, especially there were a couple of cruise ships in yesterday.

parking...we saw a number of cars with the yellow boot.

the old defunct water park behind laquinta is now almost all razed.

although technically low season, you'd never know that by the numbers of folks here at the low rise area/eagle beach.
    it is very busy.

humid, with little breeze. where did the tradewinds go?

matthew gave the island some much needed rain and things are green.

yes there are mosquitos. if you are heading here anytime soon, remember the OFF.

Interesting. We walked around the area of the old waterpark and it still looked like it hadn't been touched back in August. Glad they are taking it all down, it was very dangerous looking.

They must have just started on the water park, as it was mostly intact when we left. The wife did mention that it looked like part of it had fallen while we were there. Perhaps they started on it then, although I don't recall seeing any workers there. Glad to hear it's coming down, as it was quite the eyesore. The old seaport did look much improved. Only saw a few old buildings left. Will they be taking the old crane down? We noticed all of the greenery but didn't experience many mosquitos. Must be it is getting busier headed towards Thanksgiving. Eagle Beach wasn't that crowded when we there. We never had a problem getting a palapa. Our rental car had a mirror hanger, revealing the parking rules and regulations, which was a first time for that. Those should have been available from day 1. We drove through downtown three times on non-cruise ship days and traffic was normal. We never say the trolley running.

We got a better look at the old water park this morning on the way home from the dentist. It looks to us like it is destruction by neglect as we saw no workers also.

That's a bummer. We thought that some of it might have come down when Matthew went by.
