Son Singing with the Equator Band
We recently returned from a wonderfull 12 day vacation on Aruba. While there we wanted to bring our 11 yr. old to check out the Equator Band. My wife and I saw this band last year and they rock. My son drums in the school band and love music and to entertain so we thought he would love this band. Well, below is a copy of part of my trip report that I posted last week. For those of you who have not read the trip report I thought you might enjoy this.
Has anyone seen The Equator Band? If not and you like 70’s and 80’s rock, you have to check them out. They are "wicked pissah". They play Santana, Bob Marley, Eagles, Tina Turner, Janice Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, etc. etc. They play at Kokoa’s beach bar at the end of the Depalm Pier. The pier is located directly behind the Aruba Grand. You can also cut through the Raddison and or the Wyndham. They play every Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm. The three band members are unbelievable. Teddy (vocals, base guitar, and a great person), Henna (lead vocals and unbelievable), and Randy ( one of the best lead guitar players that I have seen). We were groupies while we were there. We saw them 4 times. The first night we were sitting next to the base guitar player, Teddy, he saw that my 11-yr. old son was singing along with the band. The song was Hotel California by the Eagles. He whispered into my son’s ear and the next thing he is up singing the song on the lead mic. Unbelievable, it brought a tear to my eye. Thank God I had my camera. Later in the gig they asked him up again and he sang Sweet Child of Mine by Guns n Roses. This is the reason why we were groupies. The band invited us back three more times so that my son could sing again. The last night he sang Kokomo by the Beach Boys and before singing he wished all the mothers a happy mothers day. Pretty cool! Did anybody see him sing? What did you think? Does he have a future in entertaining? I was hoping for an athlete but a musician will do just fine.
