    Spanish Lagoon bridge

A friend sent me a photo of the new bridge (part of the highway project to San Nic) that is in the Spanish Lagoon area.
The old bridge will be kept and will be part of Linear Park walkway.

Neat. The construction type is slip-form cast-in-place concrete. The style is "upside down hanging chain." This is similar to the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge which had its deck placed over the arches whereas this bridge will have its deck placed under the arches.

As an Engineer I am fascinated by anything under construction. I watched over the construction of the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge, as it was initially called and will be called forever by many of us. Once complete, the Spanish Lagoon Bridge will soon be a landmark on Aruba merely by virtue of its design.

We drove past the construction site a few times last trip. It alone looked like quite an undertaking, yet alone in Aruba.

I have a totally irrational fear of driving on high bridges, good thing I have no need to drive in Aruba, this one would freak me out. Is it going to be one lane each way or two?

Tracey, I think you're looking at the wrong picture. The Spanish Lagoon bridge isn't that high... have a safe trip!
