SPECIAL MOMMENTS WE GET TO SEE
Some time ago, I posted about a couple that had been comming to Aruba for years and the husband passed away. It was a sad thing to post, however something drove me to tell the story.
So seldom are poignant momments repeated. They seem to be classy on their own and any attempt to top those momments normally end up being dissasters. Just let them stand by themselves and be what they are. In any event - I will share this with you .
Some twenty years ago, a couple started comming to Aruba for their vacations. Less white hair and certainly a springier step than they had last year. IN any case, they kept comming and dignified our island with their love for each other and for Aruba.
The husband passed away while on vacation here and everyone close by jumped in to help as best we could. Her last words were - "What will I ever do when I come back?" She came back this past week-end and did exactly what she should have done.
This gracious lady came out of customs pulling her luggage behind her and went to the sidewalk. Bent over and put two roses on the sidewalk. A black one and a white one. Then walked into the cab and dissappeared into Aruba somewhere. In an area where dogs and children are trampled if they get in the way, those two flowers stayed in tact for about four hours until finally an arriving vacationer with a crying little girl came by, saw them, picked them up and gave them to his child. The crying stopped for the child and I would venture to say that it left some moist eyes with the few of us that had been following the entire thing.
Another day at the airport. My God I love this island.
