Re: SPECIAL THANKS TO, ARUBA!
Charles, I tried, in vain, to have a eye to eye conversation with you at the airport but you were not present when we arrived.
Joelly, quite cute I must say was up the walk a little at the Setar desk and I asked for you and she told me you hadn't been there yet.
I heard many great platitudes about Aruba this year, more than ever in the past. Why, I dont really know! I'm convinced that a fair percentage of the visitors who are basically first timers who did not enjoy Aruba are in fact looking for a fun filled vacation loading with non-stop entertainment 24/7 both in the night life arena and on the beaches etc.etc.
They are missing the real wholesome and rewarding opportunies that Aruba has to offer and will always have to offer. Weather: Basic fundamentally good residents:
residents that are appreciative and kind to most everyone. Even when some vacationers are ignorant, sassy and impatient. As you have written many times of the wonderful things to enjoy in Aruba and most of them absolutely free of charge are missed with the lust of the Vegas style of desire by many.
Its almost akin to going to Las Vegas to have a relaxing wound down vacation. It just doesn't work that way.
Sometimes I can almost belive that God sat on the highest peak in Aruba and that was the location where he created this world we live in.
Now men of greed with considerations concerning only how much money can be extracted from everyone come along and take the original creations, change them into enterprises of commerciality and the first time visitor arriving in Aruba finds the island not to their liking.
Blame not the island and what its very core is all about, blame the latter I mention here for commercial over-populating the island.
I truly hope and pray that the over commercialization levels off to a point that the wonderful island can hold and deal with and not be over-loaded and cannot maintain its fabulous reputation. The weather will never change but man can change the conditions of where the beautiful weather exists. Can the island handle more hotels e.g. Marriott expansions, etc. more people, cars, busses, trucks, taxis, restaurants, more downtown congestion and a long list of more additions? and still be all we love and cant wait to get too?
We wont see it in our lifetime, but I'd love to think that my grandkids and their children can appreciate the island I love so much and feel the way and enjoy everything I do concerning Aruba.
I think a better explanation is that Honolulu many years ago was a great place to wind down and vacation in every respect. Over doing everything, crime included forced vacationers to seek the outter islands. Aruba does not have outter islands except for Bonaire and Curaceo.
