Starting to get stuff together for our trip next month

I started this week pulling stuff together for our trip coming up December 10th. I set my suitcase up on the bed in one of our extra bedrooms. I've started adding things, a small tripod for the sunrise and sunset photos I'm hoping to get, my fins, snorkel and mask. Some of the chargers for electronics. My bathing suit and some of the clothes I need.

Last week I ordered a new snorkel mask I am planning to use. It is a full face mask and the snorkel is built in at the top so you don't have to clench it in your teeth. It has a GoPro mount at the top! It came from Amazon Friday and I wanted to try it out so I went swimming in the kids pool here, the water was sort of cold-about 78 degrees but the mask worked well and didn't leak at all. At least the sun was out while I was swimming!

I was out at REI outdoor gear store and got some small lightweight chamois towels. They get you dried off after swimming and then you squeeze them out and they dry pretty fast. Planning on taking a couple of old beach towels to lie on as well.

My wife is in the middle of a work project in Salt Lake City so her suitcase is already in use every week but she gave me some clothes for the beach to set aside for her.

Fun times planning for our trip!

Nice to be so close to your trip...... remember.... only take half the clothes you think you'll need and it will still be too many.

Awesome feeling when those suitcases come out!

My son used one of the full face mask snorkels during our last trip and he loved it! He will have his own for his birthday in May

I actually love packing for Aruba, it is fun.....unpacking not so much. I keep items I bring each trip in a couple of Aruba bags so they are always easy to find. Have fun getting ready.

This year I bought a set of these net zipper see through bags(not these but similar). They have 4 different sizes. I love them! I can't believe I have never used these before. You can see what is in each case and it keeps everything from falling all over the suitcases. I have my beach items in one, my hair products in another, etc.

Awesome news that your trip is soooo near. Every now and then I tap the suitcase that I normally use for my Aruba trips just to let it know that I have not forgotten it. Packing is way more fun as its a strong indication that another Aruba trip is about to happen.

I'm ready to start packing, but my dh isn't. He prefers to wait until the last minute when I will be a frantic crazy person and he will.have to suffer through my breakdown.
I like traveling between Thanksgiving and Christmas because the time seems to go by fast because we are so busy with family and holiday obligations. It hit me today that we only have 3 weekends left! I have done our sunblock inventory and I think we have enough left over from summer. I also ordered snorkel vests because we plan on venturing out alone and want to be careful in case currents are stronger than we realize. Trust me, we are very cautious in the water but there are some "new to us" areas we plan on visiting. I really want to meet a sea turtle in the Catalina area.
Other than that, I think we have everything we need, it's just a matter of getting it all together.
I've made our one and only dinner reservation for Marina Pirata with help from the responsive and helpful concierge at ABC. I was more than pleased with the service I received via email. We have a one day car rental all set for our moving day. I picked Thrifty because they have an office right next door to both of the hotels so pick up and drop off will be convenient with no waiting around.
We have a few excursions in mind, but we are going to wait and see how we feel. The plan is for a lazy beach trip, with some good drinks and good food mixed in.
