stressing out

We were supposed to be in Aruba for our honeymoon on May6 2007. We did our passport on Feb 16th being told 8 weeks time...it is now 10 weeks and they are telling us its still in processing and can give us no definate answer that yes we will be getting it in time . If we dont cancel within the next 2 days we will lose over 50% of what weve paid for th is trip. Has any one else had any problems with the passports? I'm just sick about this.

Thanks for letting me vent

Re: stressing out

Weddings are stressful enough and you do not need any added stress. You can try to contact the National Passport Information Center Telephone Number: 1-877-4USA-PPT (1-877-487-2778), and they may be able to expidite your passport. You can also check the status on their web site if you have not already done so:

Good Luck!

Re: stressing out

Don't cancel!

Contact the number on the website and make an appointment at the regional offie closest to you.

We paniced too, we are leaving 5/12 and are told our pp's have just been mailed to us and we will have them by 5/5.

go on the website and email them.
If you need the email address, email me and I will send you the link.

I'll let you know when I get it......
I shouldn't have waited so long to apply, I applied 2/22/07.

passports

My wife applied for her passport on May 2nd, 2007.

We were also told that it would take 10 weeks, however, they have some kind of express service that for $170 more, they cut 10 weeks down to 2-3 weeks,

my wife received her passport May 14th, 2007.

so if you are applying for the passport, make sure to ask about extra service...

Also, if you want to get the passport on the same day as you apply, find out which postal locations can do that. When we asked, we were told the one in Connecticut. That was a 3hr drive from us, so we opted out of that. I imagine, the cost is more as well.

My best friend went with me to Aruba last year with her birth certificate. Well she wanted to go again this year. I I have been telling her for a year to get her passport. Talk about procrastination! We leave on 6/20 and she just went yesterday to get her passport...uhh...how frustrating. She paid for the express service...so we will see when it get's here. Oh, she has had her airline ticket for 6 months!

Aruba, no other place like it !

Stressed Out

I totally know what you are saying. We leave May 20 and my son and daughter-in-law just received theirs yesterday, Thursday. It took everyday phone calls, waiting on hold for 30 minutes and told something different everytime. They applied in January. We can breath now and really get excited about our trip to our home away from home!!! Don't give up; just pursue.
