    Stronger appreciation of Aruba

Jen's confession: I cheated on my first love, Aruba. Since our next trip to Aruba isn't until December and I have several friends who go to Mexico and rant and rave about it so we decided to visit Playa del Carmen. We stayed in a condo oceanfront and the view was nice but the beach was dirty and the water had sandbars so there was no real swimming. We couldn't step out into the street without hawkers bombarding us. It was hot and extremely humid. We absolutely hated it. Every day my husband and I would say, "well Aruba is different because..." or "we like Aruba because..." or "They should do it like they do in Aruba...". So after 10 nights of misery we decided that we love Aruba for many reasons and that even though the prices aren't cheap we aren't willing to trade it for anything else. Only 186 more days until paradise.

We keep saying we want to try another spot in the Caribbean, but we never do. We know we love Aruba, so until we get tired of it, or someone gives us a trip, I have a feeling we will just keep going back. Your post made me think we would be doing the same, comparing anywhere else to Aruba and afraid it just wouldn't measure up.
Not sure when, but we will be back

So I guess you're not gonna trade the Aruba license plate for a Playa del Carmen plate..... right? Thanks for sharing!

For so many folks, Aruba is the ONLY choice.
    Yes a choice.
So many of us could go to other places.....but why ? Aruba is so much better for many of us.

We have been on many cruises, traveled to many places, but often say similar thing as the original poster said "we like Aruba better because.............."

I too have no desire to travel anywhere in the Caribbean except Aruba. We have been to many islands and none compare to Aruba. When I finally discovered Aruba approx. 13 years ago that was it. People do not understand until they visit Aruba also

I reside in the Caribbean and would rather travel to and spend more time on Aruba than anywhere else right now. From the moment I board my connecting flight from Curacao I can already feel the warm friendly vibrations of Aruba and its people reaching out to me, as though welcoming me back to the One Happy Island. Having to stand in a long line in the immigration hall, while filling out immigration cards that were issued on arrival in said hall are really microscopic setbacks; overshadowed by the overwhelming aura of relaxation and happiness that is flowing through the building on the air from the AC. Reassuring visitors and those returning home that this line will go by fast and soon you will be on your way Hoping to make it there sometime this year for another much needed dose of rejuvenation, relaxation and an endless supply of Good Vibrations from the island and people of Aruba.

We go to Aruba every summer for at least two weeks, three this year. It is by far our favorite. That said, we have gone to the Playa del Carmen area six times in the spring or winter and really enjoy it. We have found it to be a great place for a less expensive getaway. We always go All-Inclusive and find that we are treated like royalty. We have learned not to compare it to Aruba, but to enjoy the Mexican experience for what it is. If, however, we could only go to one spot in the Caribbean, it would have to be Aruba.

Aruba instills in us a sense of home. It's that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you step off the plane and it's not from the weather. I don't feel you can find it just anywhere. I do believe it's fun to travel to other destinations and appreciate them for what they are, but what they are not; is Aruba.
