At most resorts the huts/chairs are free for their registered guests.

Do you mean the Holiday Inn Sunspree. No you don't have to pay for shade huts.

No, you do not have to pay for huts if you are staying at the resort, BUT if you want one, they are assigned now on a first come-first serve basis, so you have to line up at the towel hut at 6:30-7:00 to get a hut. I will be there in July and can't wait!!! Have a great time.

Chrissy,
After you get your hut and towel, you can leave your towel and stuff there and it will be fine....nobody will take your stuff. Some people tie a shirt to the back of their chair or put their flip-flops through the top rungs of the chair so it is easier to find when you get back. Be sure to secure your towel to the chair though by tucking the corners under the elastic band under the top of the chair, or it will probably blow off into the sand, as it is usually quite breezy down there. Enjoy your first trip, and I'M SURE YOU'LL BE ADDICTED LIKE MOST OF US ALREADY ARE AND START COUNTING THE DAYS UNTIL YOUR NEXT VISIT!

hi

in answer to your question........yes, sort of.
once you get your louunge and shade hut, make yourself comfortable, secure your towels on your lounges so they do not blow away. leave a couple of things there, a book, an empty beach bag (securely fastened to the chair). go for breakfast but do not be gone for long. apparently the "beach etiquette" is to leave the area no longer than 2 hours. (i have no idea who sets the bech etiquette)

we do this at lacabana but never leave the area for more than an hour.

that being said, be careful leaving anything of real value laying around unattended.
