    Sunsets, ahhhh

This may seem silly, but those sunset lovers like me will understand.

We've always been to Aruba in the fall/winter months, and I believe being on the south side of the buildings (Hol Inn) was better for watching sunsets from the balcony of the hotel. Being that we are close to the summer soltice, I'm thinking I need to get a room on the north side of the building to be able to see a sunset from my balcony. Ehhhh?

it probably will not make a whole lot of difference.
aruba is so close to the equator there is not a heck of a lot of difference in the position of the sunrise/set.

I went back and looked through my Aruba photos. When staying on the south side of a tower at the Radisson in the month of June we could just barely see the sun set below the horizon from our balcony.

When staying on the north side of a tower at the Radisson in the month of September we had this view of the sunset.

When staying in an oceanfront suite at the Westin during the month of June the sunset was straight out from our room.
Attachment 3047 Hate to say it, but in the month of June the sun is pretty much setting right off the middle of Palm Beach.

Thank you! That's kind of what I thought.

So, easy fix, ask for a room with full ocean view! I just verified with hubby last night, he still is Platinum Elite IHG member. Maybe we can use that to upgrade.

VERY cool too! Thanks for that...

Just as an aside, fwiw, the map overlay goes to show how poor Google Maps are for locations.
Divi Links where the Phoenix is for starters and there are more I've tried to get some of them straightened out but have given up.

I didn't see the post yesterday about the suncalc site. How cool. And it shows just what I thought. I need to be on the side of the building facing the north.

Again, people who don't know better look at me funny when I talk about this. I guess they've never witnessed an Aruban sunset while sipping a cocktail on the balcony of their room. I've seen California sunsets, Florida sunsets, and sunsets from a cruise ship. I'll take the Aruba sunset.
