We leave this Saturday for our family vacation in Aruba and my boys want to surf. They think Emily will generate some good waves. Does anyone know if there is a place to rent surfboards on the island? Everything I have found is just about windsurfing.

Your boys could buy body boards to surf with, however standard surfboards are not a big item or sport here.
The Hurricane might throw up some waves, however in my most humble opinion, they would not be good ones to surf on. That said, I do not surf so - I would not know for sure.

Surfing takes a bit of a back seat on the island and often reserved for the locals that know the sometimes tricky aquatic conditions around the island. Hurricane season does offer better conditions but be careful and ask around.

I was just there July 4th Week and the only surfing going on was on the Northside of the island. There is one spot were all the locals go.
