Re: Tamarijn AI

Just got back March 1st. The Tam beach looks better than I've seen for a bunch of years. Plenty of room for lounging etc. Mother nature blessed their beach big time. The Divi beach next door is probably the best of all beaches on the island. Huge and nice unrestricting waves for entering the ocean and clean when in there. The Marriott and surrounding beach has a lot of kelp, seaweed or whatever you call it and we noticed a definate smell of oil etc. in the Hol. Inn beach water and neighboring hotels on some days.
Those two stroke outboards as well as the in boards engines mixing gas and oil in their engines, running around there 365 days a year has to have these fuels dumped into the water to some degree especially because the boats are starting and ending right at the beach/ocean line.
If may be denied by residents in that area but motors of any type whether inboard or outboard exhaust fumes and some amounts of oil and or gas directly into the ocean even if its extreme small amts. It someone wants to be truthful, the absolute crystal clear ocean that used to be at the high rise area is non-existant anymore.
There are days when it looks a lot better than others but over-all these boats have to have an effect on the area. Right past the Hol. Inn before you get to the Marriott beach is a boat docking area sitting right on the ocean that is the same water they all swim in. There are fishing boats of many sorts docked there and they number quite a few. They clean their catches there as well and I'm sure dump the entrails right in the water also.
This has to result in some percentage of pollution right within a half mile of the best of the high rises, Hyatt included.
For the prices the Marriott charges for units renting, buying, whatever, they need to take a look at this consideration. 75% of residents there are not on the beach. They are at the pool areas. Hmmmmm.

Ditto Cal..
The tam's beach is an improvement, but the Divi definitely has the nicest beach on the island, hands down. Not to mention the best bar for a sunset happy hour. Have a Miami Vice for me..

Re: Tamarijn AI

we will be going to Aruba for the 1st time in June. We are staying at the Tamarijn and want to know what block of rooms you would recommend, we have a 14 and 16yr. old. Should we try to stay closer to the Divi?

Re: Tamarijn AI

Joyce- This past July we stayed in the 1900 block. We have a 16 yr. daughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is close to the bunker bar, and the beach was nice. It was a short walk to the lobby, but we enjoyed that. We were able to take the golf carts to the end and then walk a short distance to the grocery stores. If we wanted to go to the Divi, we rode the golf cart. The golf carts are fun. There were a couple times that we walked down to the Divi and enjoyed that too. It all depends on what you want.

This was the first time that we had done anything like this, and we've said that if and when we go back, it's to the Tam.

Re: Tamarijn AI

Joyce,

There is definately no advantage being close to the Divi. You will be more then satisfied at the Tam. The beaches are great, and there's actually probably more to do for your two kids at the Tam. Climbing wall, watersports hut, etc... Have a great time. The higher block of room numbers, the farther away from the food, pool, etc... the bar, food court, pool etc... is between blocks 1300 and 1400.
