Question texting while in aruba
calling all techno wizards!
can't for the life of me remember if i could text while in aruba last year
i have verizon with int'l activated
my questions are:
1) texting between aruba & the us - can i? and how badly will it put me in the poor house
2) texting with others on aruba - i'll be there in may for a wedding & will need to text like mad to coordinate meet-ups, etc.
any insight would be greatly appreciated

I have AT&T and had no problem last year texting to the mainland or my wife during the day when she was on the beach and I was at the casino.

ok just checked my cell phone bill.....the 8 text messages I sent were 4.00...the roaming charges for the phone calls were 96.00.....ughhhhhh oh well had to talk to the kids while in aruba a few times. not as bad as last year when we took the kids and they were using the phones

it's 50c per text and $1.99 per min (talk) with Verizon. They also have an international email and data plan for $50 per month.

Just a side note, if you have a Droid phone, you can get the mobile Skype application, subscribe to wifi Aruba ($35 per week) and can use Skype to call/text for free.
