Thanksgiving

This will be the first year we have gone for Thanksgiving week and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on restaurants for T-giving?
We may just stay in and have a quiet dinner, but just in case.
We will have 4 other people with us over the course of 2 weeks but they ALL leave that day, it will be so quiet I may not know what to do with myself !!!

We have been spending Thanksgiving on the island for over twenty years. Some hotels have a buffet, some add a traditional turkey/ham dinner to their regular menu, some hotels do catering to go or you can buy the items you want and make dinner in your unit. Our family comes to the island for the holiday and we always have our dinner catered and the reason for that is "football". The guys must watch games and eating in makes it alot easier. Check the local newspaper the week before the holiday and see who is having the type of dinner you want.

Edna, Thanks that is great help...never thought of football...heaven forbid !!! Of course, my husband, I think (gee, how well do I really know him...) can do without football for turkey day. Or maybe we can go to a sportsbar, eat junk, drink beer and watch footbal....no that sounds like a plan !!!

Thanksgiving

danadog56
last year was our first year in Aruba - and we stay for 2wks as well
Restaurants know of this holiday and many have a Thanksgiving buffet
I know LaCabana has a large Thanksgiving buffet which is good

I do like the suggestion of going to a sports bar however we will probably just play it by ear and see what comes our way...most likely will find a place for turkey!!

Maybe will see you around - take care

re thanksgiving

we have been down more than 20 times and go tgiving for 2 weeks. we bring a can of cranberry sauce and get chicken fingers at the pool bar. it would seem like going to plymouth to have an arubian dinner, i dont feel that they fully understand the food as we eat it.

i have not known any one to be happy with their meal. one year we went to ling supermarket and bought a turkey breast and cooked it and was pretty good.

sounds like a plan to me!
sportsbar late afternoon.......food, football, drinks whatever they may be!
thanksgiving dinner really isn't about the dinner...........it's about being with one you love and having fun and giving thanks for everything.

the turkey can be had any time. which reminds me to take ours out of the freezer so i can roast it on monday or tuesday ...... for dinners and soup

"my idea" of a perfect thanksgiving dinner in aruba................after a full day beach and pool,.............when sunset comes i'd opt for turkey breast, mayo, stuffing, cranberry sauce sandwiches on the beach with a nice bottle of pinot grigo.

turkey breast can be bought at lings as well as cranberry sauce....but make your own stuffing at home, freeze it and bring with you to aruba from home.

we'll be in aruba for christmas. we plan on Mj's for christmas eve dinner but may do "my plan" for christmas night dinner on egle beach.

My recommendations

Dude,

Madame Janette is one I highly recommend for a group of people, but make reservations.
Ruins Del Mar at the Hyatt is also highly recommended.

Been to them all, and my wife and I consider time at a nice dinner priceless - don't waste it elsewhere when your with special folks.
